Before getting started, you’ll need a few supplies to help you clean the pet stain:
The first step is to blot up as much of the liquid as possible. Use paper towels to gently press against stain and absorb what you can. Do not rub or scrub the area as this may spread the stain and make it harder to remove.
Next, you'll want to vacuum the area to remove any remaining liquid and particles. This will help you get rid of odors that may be lingering in the carpet fibers.
Now, you can apply the vinegar solution to the stain. Pour the mixture directly onto the stain and let it sit for several minutes. This will help break down and loosen the stain so it can be more easily removed.
Once the solution has had time to work, you can use the paper towels again to blot up the excess solution. Make sure to press gently so you don't spread the stain even further.
Now you'll want to sprinkle baking soda over the stain. The baking soda will help absorb any remaining liquid and odors. Allow the baking soda to sit for several minutes or overnight to get best results.
After the baking soda has had a chance to do its job, you'll want to vacuum it up. This will help to remove baking soda and any other particles that may have been loosened during the cleaning process.
If you're still seeing a faint stain, you can try treating it with hydrogen peroxide. Simply pour a small amount of peroxide onto the stain and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Once it's done, blot up the excess and vacuum area.
You're now done and ready to enjoy your freshly cleaned carpet! Just remember to keep an eye out for any future pet accidents and take action immediately.
