It's important to understand the materials of your watch before you start cleaning. Different materials, such as fabric, leather, stainless steel, and plastic, require different methods. If you're not sure what material your watchband is made of, check the label or look up your watch type online.
Once you know the material of your watch, make a cleaning solution that won't damage the material. For metal watches, use a mixture of warm water and dish soap. For plastic and other synthetic materials, use a mixture of warm water and white vinegar. For leather, use a mixture of lukewarm water and a mild detergent.
Before applying your cleaning solution directly to your watch, spot-test it on an area of the bracelet that is not highly visible. This will help you determine if cleaning solution does any damage to the material.
To apply the cleaning solution, dip a soft cloth into it and then lightly dab the wet cloth onto the perspiration stains. Make sure to avoid rubbing on the material in a circular motion as this can cause damage. Let the cleaning solution sit for a few minutes before proceeding.
Once the stains have been removed, rinse watchband with cool, clean water. Make sure to thoroughly remove any residue from the cleaning solution before drying.
Using a dry, soft cloth, gently wipe watchband to remove any remaining moisture. Then, hang or lay the watchband out to air dry completely before wearing.
With these six simple steps, you can easily clean your watch and get rid of those pesky perspiration stains. Just make sure to be gentle when cleaning and make sure the watch is completely dry before wearing it again.
