When you're wearing a tie in summer months, it's very common to experience perspiration stains. The good news is that these unsightly marks can be quickly removed with the right techniques and the correct cleaning products.
The first step to removing perspiration stains from your tie is to blot the stain with a clean cloth. It is important to use a white cloth, as colored fabrics could transfer color onto the tie.
Once you have blotted the stain, you should apply a spot cleaner specifically designed for fabrics. You can purchase these from most department stores or online. Make sure to read instructions before applying the cleaner.
Next, allow the spot cleaner to work its magic. This could take up to 12 hours, so make sure you leave it for appropriate amount of time. Again, read the instructions on the spot cleaner label to determine how long you should wait.
Once spot cleaner has had enough time to work, it’s time to rinse the tie with cold water. Make sure to use a light pressure with your hands to remove any excess solution or dirt.
The final step is to hang the tie up to air dry. Make sure to hang the tie away from direct sunlight, as this could cause the colors to fade or bleed.
