For particularly stubborn perspiration stains, it’s best to pre-treat them before washing. Start by dabbing the stained area with a cloth or paper towel to remove any excess moisture. Then, create a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water and apply it to the stain with a clean cloth. Let the solution sit for up to an hour before moving on to the next step.
Once you’ve pre-treated the stain, it’s time to wash the garment. Turn the item inside out and place it in the washing machine (be sure to check the care label first). Set the washing cycle to the gentle setting and add a mild detergent. If possible, choose a detergent specifically formulated for delicate fabrics or for removing sweat stains. After washing, dry garment according to the instructions on the care label.
If the stain is still visible after washing, try exposing the garment to direct sunlight. This natural bleach has been known to be effective at removing perspiration stains. Hang item outside (or in a sunny room) for several hours and then re-wash it as directed.
By following these steps, you should have no problem removing perspiration stains from your Tencel garments. For best results, treat stains as soon as possible and remember to always check the care labels before washing.
