What You Need
- A basin or sink
- Cold water
- Mild detergent, such as Woolite or Dawn
- White vinegar (optional)
- A dry towel
Steps
- Fill a basin or sink with cold water and add a few drops of mild detergent. Don’t use hot water, as it will set stain.
- Submerge the stained area in the basin/sink. Let the shirt soak for 15-20 minutes.
- If the stains are still present, create a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts cold water. Soak the t-shirt in this mixture and let sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Gently rub stained area with a soft bristled brush. Be careful not to brush too harshly or you may damage fabric.
- Rinse the t-shirt with cold water until the vinegar smell is gone. Do not wring the t-shirt as this may cause the stain to set.
- Lay the t-shirt out on a dry towel and allow it to air dry.
Tips
- For stubborn stains, a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide can work wonders. Simply mix a paste of these ingredients and apply to the stained area. Gently scrub and then rinse with cold water before air drying.
- For even more effectiveness, try pre-treating sweat stains with a laundry spot remover before washing.
