Step 1: Soak the Sweatshirt in a Vinegar Solution

Create a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Submerge the stained area of the sweatshirt into the mixture and let it soak for about an hour.

Step 2: Rub the Stain with Baking Soda

Make a paste of baking soda and water and rub it onto the perspiration stain. Leave it on for a couple of minutes before rinsing off the paste with cold water.

Step 3: Pre-Treat Sweatshirt With a Stain Remover

Follow the directions on the stain remover and spray the affected area. Allow it to sit for several minutes before washing (with similar colors).

Step 4: Launder the Sweatshirt With Added Ingredients

Wash the sweatshirt in your washing machine on the gentlest cycle, using warm water. Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of baking soda to the cycle to help remove any lingering stains and odors.

Step 5: Let the Sweatshirt Hang Dry

Let the sweatshirt hang dry instead of placing it in the dryer. If any stains still remain, repeat steps 1–4.
