To start, fill a bucket with just enough warm water to cover the stained area. Add a teaspoon of mild detergent to the water. You can also add a teaspoon of white vinegar or baking soda, as both are natural cleaning agents. Let spandex soak for 15-20 minutes in solution.

Once the time is up, gently rub stained area with a soft sponge or cloth to work the solution into fabric. Make sure you don’t scrub too hard, as this can damage the spandex fibers. Rinse the fabric with cold water until all of dirt and suds have been removed.

If you’re still seeing a stain after rinsing, it’s time to bring out the heavy-duty stuff. Make a paste of baking soda and water, then use an old toothbrush to dab the paste onto the stain. Allow paste to sit on the fabric for 30 minutes before rinsing. The baking soda will help lift stain from fabric.

Finally, hang the spandex up to dry. Avoid putting it in dryer, as the high temperatures can cause the material to shrink or stretch. You can also lay the garment out flat to dry, just make sure it is not laid out in direct sunlight.

That’s it! With some patience and a few simple cleaning steps, you can restore your spandex and get back to your workout.
