Before beginning, check slippers’ tags for washing instructions. If the tag says not to machine wash or dry, then you may need to take it to a professional cleaner that specializes in delicate clothing items. If the label says that it is machine washable, proceed with the following steps:
Fill a tub or bucket with enough warm water to completely submerge your slippers. Add a teaspoon of laundry detergent and swish it around with your hands to ensure that detergent is fully dissolved. Place your slippers in the water and let fabric soak for at least 10 minutes, or longer if the perspiration stains appear particularly stubborn.
Once the slippers have soaked, use a soft bristled brush to scrub away the perspiration stains. Be sure to use gentle pressure and brush in circular motions. If the stains still appear, you can try adding a teaspoon of baking soda to the mixture for extra cleaning power.
Remove the slippers from the soapy water and rinse off any excess soap. Gently squeeze out the remaining water and hang the slippers up to dry in a well-ventilated area. To prevent shrinking, avoid using a clothes dryer and allow the slippers to air dry completely before wearing them.
With these simple steps, you can easily keep your slippers free of perspiration stains. Regular cleaning and maintenance will help to extend the life of your slippers and get more mileage out of your favorite footwear.
