Before throwing your sleep pants in the washing machine, it's important to pre-treat the stain. Make a paste of bicarbonate of soda, liquid laundry detergent, and water, and apply it directly onto the stain. Leave the mixture for a few minutes to allow the ingredients to work their magic, before rinsing off with cold water.
Once you have pre-treated the stain, pop the sleep pants into the washing machine. Use your regular laundry detergent, and set the temperature to cold - hot water can set the stain further, making it even harder to get out. Avoid using fabric softener, as this can also cause the stain to become worse.
Remove the sleep pants from the machine as soon as the cycle has finished - don't forget to check back of the garment for any remaining stains. Now, you want to dry the pants on a low heat setting - this will help to loosen any remaining residue without setting the stain any further.
If the stain isn't completely removed after the first wash, repeat the steps above until it's gone. However, avoid using the same detergent twice, as this can lead to fading of the garment.
Once your sleep pants are free from perspiration stains, air-dry them until completely dry. This helps to prevent any further stains from appearing, and also ensures that the garment hasn't shrunk during the drying process.
