Before you start, you will need:
Start by blotting the stained area with a damp sponge, then sprinkle some baking soda over the stain. Gently rub it in using your fingers, then leave it alone for 15 to 20 minutes. This will help draw out any excess moisture and lift the stain.
When you’re ready to wash the garment, turn it inside out, then place it in a washing machine with a small amount of laundry detergent. Make sure the water temperature is set to cool, since hot water could damage the delicate fibers. Next, run the machine on a normal cycle.
Once the cycle is done, transfer the garment to a sink or basin full of cold water. Add 1 cup of white vinegar and let garment soak for 15 minutes. Doing this will help remove any detergent residue that may be left behind.
After the garment has been washed and rinsed, use a clean white towel to press out any excess moisture. Then, lay the garment flat on another clean towel and use a clothes brush to lightly brush the fabric. Finally, air-dry it away from direct sunlight.
With the right technique and supplies, you can easily clean perspiration stains from silk chiffon garments and give them a new lease on life. However, if the stain persists after following these steps, consider having the garment professionally dry cleaned.
