Dampen a cloth with lukewarm water and mild liquid detergent. Rub the cloth gently over the stain until it appears to be loosened. Don't rub too hard, as this may set the stain deeper into the fabric.
Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and enough liquid detergent to fill the bowl. Gently submerge your scarf in the solution and let it soak overnight. Be sure entire scarf is submerged, and that the water covers the stained area.
Rinse your scarf in cold water, squeezing the fabric to release any dirt or detergent residue. Hang your scarf up to dry. Do not put it in dryer, as this could cause additional shrinkage and stains may not come out completely.
If the stain is still visible after steps 1-3, use a toothbrush to gently scrub a paste made of baking soda and lemon juice onto the stained area. Leave the paste on the fabric for 15 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. Hang your scarf up to dry.
