Start by pre-treating the sweat stain with a combination of water and detergent. Soak the affected area in cold water and mild detergent for about 10 minutes. This helps to loosen up the stain and makes it easier to remove.
If the stain is particularly tough and won't come off with just water and detergent, use a stain remover spray. It works best when sprayed directly onto stain and left to work its magic overnight. Just make sure to read the instructions on the label and avoid spraying it on any delicate or coloured fabrics.
After the stain has been removed, it's time to wash sari. Use hot water, a mild detergent, and a gentle cycle to ensure that the fabric doesn't get damaged. Avoid using too much detergent or bleach as this can cause colours to fade or fabrics to stretch.
Once the sari is washed, hang it out to dry in the sun. This is an effective way to get rid of any remaining sweat stains as the sun’s rays have natural sanitising properties. Don’t forget to turn sari inside out so that sun’s rays can reach both sides.
After the sari has dried, it's time to iron it. Iron sari at a low temperature and on the reverse side to avoid any damage. Once the sari is completely dry and free of wrinkles, it's ready to be worn again.
