Spot Treat Stains With Mild Detergent

Before washing the coat, spot treat any stubborn stains with a mild detergent solution. Mix a few drops of detergent with warm water and use a soft cloth to rub stained area until it’s gone. For tougher spots, use a scrub brush lightly soaked in the solution.

Hand Wash Your Raincoat

Fill a sink or large basin with lukewarm water and a capful of mild detergent. Place the raincoat in the water and gently press and massage the fabric to loosen up dirt and sweat. Pay special attention to any heavily stained areas. After a few minutes, rinse the garment with cold water to remove any leftover residue. To prevent any color bleeding, be sure to use two different buckets for the cleaning and rinsing processes.

Air Dry or Hang Dry Gently

Do not put your raincoat in the dryer! Instead, hang it up on a clothesline, drying rack, or over shower rod and allow it to air dry completely. Never put it in direct sunlight or else it may fade over time.

Iron On Low Heat Setting

Once the raincoat has completely dried, you can give it a light iron if desired. Set the iron to a low or delicate heat and iron from the inside out to ensure that no fabric gets scorched. Depending on the material, you may need to use a pressing cloth to protect the fabric from the heat.
