Step 1: Pre-Treat Stain with Detergent and Water

Mix a small amount of liquid dish detergent and warm water in a bowl. Dip an old toothbrush into the mixture and gently scrub the sweat stain. Be sure to use a soft bristled brush to avoid damaging the fabric. Let the solution sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off.

Step 2: Apply White Vinegar or Lemon Juice

Once you have pre-treated the stain, apply white vinegar or fresh lemon juice directly onto the spot. Allow the vinegar/lemon juice to sit for about 20 minutes. The acidity of the vinegar/lemon juice helps to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Rinse Clean and Dry

Once you’ve let the vinegar/lemon juice sit, rinse the fabric with cold water. After rinsing, lay the muslin flat and allow it to air dry. If needed, lightly dab the area with a towel to speed up the drying process.

Step 4: Repeat If Necessary

If after the steps above, the stain remains, try repeating steps one more time. If the stain is still present, then it may be best to take the muslin to a professional cleaner to have it removed.
