The first step in removing sweat stains from your jeans is to give them a pre-treatment rinse. Using cold water, soak the affected area for at least 30 minutes. This will help to loosen up any of the sweat stains that have set in. After pre-treatment has finished, turn your jeans inside out and place them in the washing machine. Add a good detergent, some baking soda and a cup of white vinegar.
Now you're ready to start washing. Use the hottest water setting available and set the water level to maximum. For a more effective cleaning job, add an extra rinse cycle. Once the wash cycle is complete, take your jeans out and hang them to dry. Do not put them in the dryer as this can cause the stains to set in and become even harder to remove.
In some cases, you may need to do a few extra treatments in order to get rid of the perspiration stains. If the pre-treatment method does not seem to be doing the trick, try using a stain remover. There are many types of stain removers available, so make sure to read instructions carefully before using them. You can also try a basic homemade stain remover solution: mix together equal parts white vinegar and water and apply it directly to the stained area. Allow it to sit for several minutes before washing.
With just a few simple steps and treatments, you should be able to get rid of those pesky perspiration stains on your jeans. Keeping your jeans clean and stain free will help to ensure that they last for a long time to come.
