The first step in removing perspiration stains from your jacket is to determine what type of fabric it is. If your jacket is made of wool or cashmere, you should take it to a professional cleaner, as these materials are more delicate and require special treatment. If it is cotton, synthetic, or another durable fabric, then you can proceed with cleaning it yourself.
Once you’ve identified the fabric, pre-treat the stain with a gentle liquid detergent. Take a clean cloth and dab a small amount of detergent onto the stain before gently blotting it with the cloth. Do not rub the stain, as this may cause it to spread further.
Once the stain is pre-treated, fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water and add a mild detergent or cleaning product specifically designed for washing delicate items. Place the jacket in the water and let it soak for at least 30 minutes.
Once the jacket has been soaked, remove it from the water and gently rub affected area with a clean cloth or sponge. Rinse the jacket in lukewarm water and hang it up to air-dry.
Once the jacket has dried, inspect the area to make sure stain has been completely removed. If the stain persists, repeat the process until it disappears.
