To start, use a damp cloth to blot stained area and try to remove as much of the sweat as possible. Then, rinse the area with cold water until the cloth no longer collects any residue.
Vinegar can be used to remove perspiration stains from Irish crochet. Simply pour some vinegar into a bowl and submerge the affected area for 15-20 minutes. This will help dissolve any set-in stains.
If the stain remains after soaking, try rubbing the area with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Rub in circular motions until the stain disappears.
To finish, create a mild soap solution by combining 1 teaspoon of laundry or dish detergent with 1 cup of water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and rub it over the affected area. Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with cold water.
When you are finished cleaning, lay the piece on a dry towel to air dry. Avoid drying the piece with a hairdryer as this may damage fabric.
To prevent future perspiration stains on your Irish crochet pieces, make sure to take regular breaks so that you don’t get too sweaty. You should also drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated and your skin moisturized.
