The first step in removing perspiration stains from gingham fabric is to take garment outside and shake off any excess dirt, debris, or any excess liquid. Then, you should turn the garment inside out so that stain is not exposed to the bright light.
Next, you should mix a solution of cold water and mild detergent in a basin. Use a white cloth or sponge to gently dab the stained area of the gingham fabric and allow solution to soak into the fabric for about 10 minutes.
Once the solution has had time to work, you should rinse the garment under cold running water to remove the suds and soap residue. You should also try to work the suds away from fabric using your fingertips so that the stain is no longer visible.
After rinsing, you should put thing item in the washing machine with a mild detergent. Set the washing machine to the delicate cycle and use cool water. You can also add a fabric whitener, such as Oxy-Clean, to the wash cycle.
Finally, after the wash cycle is complete, hang the garment up to dry on a clothesline. Once the garment is completely dry, check the area where the perspiration stain was to ensure that all of the stain has been removed.
If the stain is still visible, repeat same steps until it has been successfully removed.
