Step 1: Prepare the Shoes

Before you begin cleaning, you'll need to prepare your shoes for the process. Gently brush away any loose dirt from the surface of the shoe using a soft-bristled brush. If the espadrille is wet due to perspiration, stuff it with newspaper so that it can dry thoroughly.

Step 2: Create a Cleaning Solution

Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a small bowl. Use a spoon to stir the solution together until it's well blended. The acidic nature of the vinegar will help break down the perspiration stains.

Step 3: Apply Solution

Using a clean rag, dip it into the white vinegar solution until it's saturated. Gently rub the solution onto the stained areas of the shoe, using circular motions. Make sure to saturate the entire area to ensure all stains are removed.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Once the stains have been loosened, use a damp cloth to rinse away the vinegar solution. After all of the solution has been removed, let the shoes air dry completely (do not place them near a heat source).
