Perspiration stains are caused by the sweat that is produced when you wear a down jacket. As you move, your body temperature rises and you begin to sweat. This sweat then soaks into the fabric of the jacket, causing unsightly stains.
The best way to prevent perspiration stains is to wear a liners underneath your down jacket. Liners are designed to wick away moisture, keeping it away from exterior of the jacket. Additionally, you can wear a breathable coat or shell on top of your down jacket for extra protection.
To clean perspiration stains from your down jacket, you'll need a few supplies: a cleaner designed for down jackets, microfiber cloths, and a large bucket. Begin by filling the bucket with warm water and the appropriate amount of cleaner for your jacket. Submerge the stained area and allow it to soak for a few minutes.
Once the stain has soaked, use a microfiber cloth to gently scrub the area. Take care not to rub too hard, as this may damage the fabric. After scrubbing, rinse the fabric with a small amount of warm water and then hang it up to dry.
When drying your down jacket, make sure to put it somewhere where it won't be exposed to direct sunlight or high heat. Hang it in a cool, well-ventilated area and allow it to air-dry. If the down jacket is still damp after a few hours, you can put it in a cloth bag and place it in the dryer on a low heat setting.
