Crepe fabrics are lightweight and breathable, but they are also prone to absorbing perspiration quickly. To avoid staining your clothes, it is important to clean them as soon as possible after they become stained. Here are the steps for getting rid of those nasty perspiration stains:

Step 1: Pre-Treat Stain

Before laundering the garment, it is important to pre-treat the perspiration stains. Combine a tablespoon of ammonia with half a cup of warm water in a jar or container. Then, apply the solution to affected area using a clean white cloth. Rub the solution into the stain and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes before laundering.

Step 2: Launder as Usual

Once the pre-treatment step is finished, launder the garment in cool or warm water (never hot) with a mild detergent. For best results, use a detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics. If stain refuses to budge, you can try adding a small amount of bleach to the wash cycle. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using bleach to avoid damaging fabric.

Step 3: Hang to Dry

Once the garment is laundered, hang it to dry rather than machine drying. This will help to ensure that the stain does not set into the fabric.

Step 4: Test the Stain

To ensure that the perspiration stain is completely gone, test it by dabbing a bit of water onto the fabric. If the stain remains, repeat the laundering step until it is removed.
