If you’ve just noticed the stain, the best course of action is to act fast. As soon as you remove your clothing, take a slightly damp cloth and blot at the mark. This should help lift the stain away from the fabric, making it easier to clean without risking damage.
Once the excess moisture has been blotted away, apply a small amount of detergent directly onto the stain. Allow the detergent to sit for around five minutes, then rinse the garment using cold water. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing, as this may cause the stain to set in and become harder to remove.
Unfortunately, not all stains can be taken care of quickly and easily. If you’ve allowed a sweat stain to dry, there are still options available to you. Start by soaking the garment in a solution of warm water and detergent for around 30 minutes.
After this time has passed, rub the stained area with a soft cloth or an old toothbrush. This should help to lift stain and loosen up any dirt or debris. When the stain has been removed, rinse the clothing thoroughly before leaving it to air dry. If necessary, repeat process until the stain has gone.
Obviously, the best course of action is to try and prevent perspiration stains from forming in first place. To do this, use antiperspirant deodorant regularly, and ensure that you’re not wearing tight-fitting clothing. Wearing loose fitting garments made from breathable fabrics can help to keep you cool and reduce the amount of sweat your body produces.
By following our guide, you should now be equipped with knowledge and know-how to tackle even toughest perspiration stains. Remember - act fast, and don't forget to take preventative measures. Good luck!
