Corduroy is a popular fabric for its durability and comfort. But when perspiration stains start to build up, it can look dingy and unattractive. Fortunately, it’s not hard to bring that beloved clothing back to life! Here’s how to clean perspiration stains from corduroy quickly and easily.
Start by pre-treating the stain with laundry detergent. Apply the detergent directly to stain and rub it gently into the fabric using a soft scrub brush. Once the detergent is worked into the fabric, let it sit for five to ten minutes to allow it to work its magic.
Next, add a few tablespoons of white vinegar to a bucket of warm water and stir to combine. Submerge the corduroy item into solution and let it soak for 15 minutes. The vinegar will help to break down the sweat and oils from fabric.
Once the corduroy item is done soaking, it’s time to use oxygenated bleach to get rid of the perspiration stains. Add a scoop of oxygen bleach to a gallon of warm water and mix until it’s thoroughly dissolved. Then, submerge the corduroy item into the solution and let it sit for 15 minutes. This will help to lift the sweat and oils from the fabric.
After 15 minutes, take item out of the solution and rinse it off with cold water. Be sure to remove any excess moisture from the fabric and then hang it up to air dry. If the stain persists after drying, repeat steps until the stain is gone.
With these four steps, you can easily remove perspiration stains from corduroy in less than five minutes. This method is gentle enough to use on all types of corduroy fabric and will help keep your clothes looking like new.
