Before beginning, gather the supplies you’ll need. You’ll need a mild detergent or stain remover, cold water, white vinegar, and a clean white cloth. If your garment has been heavily soiled, you may also want to invest in a specialty stain remover.
Mix a solution of one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of cold water. Soak a clean cloth in mixture and gently dab the affected area. Be sure not to rub or scrub, as this can damage the delicate fibers of the fabric. Make sure to press the liquid out of the cloth after each dab to avoid spreading the stain.
Next, machine wash the garment on the cold delicate cycle with mild detergent. If the garment has noticeably lightened, repeat pre-treatment process again before washing. Once the washing cycle is complete, remove the garment from the machine immediately and hang to dry.
Once garment is mostly dry, lay it flat in direct sunlight to help fade any remaining stain. The sunlight can help naturally bleach fabric and will help eliminate any leftover residue. After sun exposure, the garment is ready to wear!
By following these four easy steps, perspiration stains on chiffon georgette fabrics can be easily removed. With a little care and patience, your favorite items can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.
