Removing Fresh Sweat Stains from Chambray

  • Start by soaking garment in cold water. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  • Mix a solution of detergent and cold water. You should use 1 tablespoon of detergent per quart of water.
  • Soak the garment in the detergent solution for up to 30 minutes.
  • Then, wash the garment as you normally would. Choose a cold cycle and a mild detergent.
  • Once it's done, inspect the garment for discoloration. If there are still discolorations, repeat the process until you get the desired result.

Removing Set-In Sweat Stains from Chambray

  • Mix a solution of one part vinegar to two parts cold water.
  • Dab the stain with the solution and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  • Wash the garment as you normally would; choose a cold cycle and a mild detergent.
  • If the stain persists, mix a solution of one part borax and two parts cold water, and blot the stain with the solution. Let it to sit for 15 minutes.
  • Finally, rinse the garment thoroughly and hang it to dry.
