Brocades are a type of fabric that is characterized by raised weaves with an intricate, decorative pattern. Brocade is usually made from silk or other fine materials, so it is often used in more formal wear. Unfortunately, this delicate material can be prone to getting stained with perspiration.

Perspiration contains antiperspirant chemicals, as well as oils and salts that can set into stains, making them difficult to remove. It’s important to act quickly when you notice a perspiration stain on brocade, as the longer it is left the more difficult it will be to remove.

3 Steps for Cleaning Perspiration Stains from Brocades

  1. Gently blot the stain with a paper towel or a damp cloth. Use a light touch to avoid rubbing the fabric and further setting stain.
  2. Mix one part white vinegar to four parts warm water. Place the mixture in a spray bottle and lightly mist area of the stain. Leave to sit for a few minutes.
  3. Once the vinegar solution has had time to soak in, gently scrub area with a soft brush. Rinse area with cold water and then press the fabric between two dry towels to remove any remaining moisture.

Using these steps, you should be able to successfully remove perspiration stains from your brocades. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can try repeating the process one or two more times. However, if the stain still persists after three attempts, it is best to take fabric to a specialist cleaner.
