Step 1: Rinse With Cold Water

The first step in removing perspiration stains from board shorts is to rinse the affected area with cold water. This will help get rid of some of salt and stickies before you begin the cleaning process. Make sure to rinse the area thoroughly and don't rub fabric, as this could cause more staining.

Step 2: Pre-Treat With Detergent or Vinegar

Once you have rinsed the area, you can start pre-treating the stain. There are a few different options here. You can use a mild detergent, such as Woolite, or a few drops of white vinegar. Soak the board shorts in mixture for about 10 minutes before you begin scrubbing.

Step 3: Scrub With a Soft Brush

Once board shorts have been soaked in the detergent or vinegar, you can start scrubbing the affected area with a soft-bristled brush. Be sure to work gently and avoid using too much pressure, as this could damage fabric. You can also use a combination of baking soda and lemon juice to create a paste to help break down the stains.

Step 4: Wash on a Gentle Cycle

After you have scrubbed the stained area, you should wash the board shorts on the gentle cycle in cold water. Be sure to select a mild detergent that is free of chlorine or bleach, as these can be damaging to the fabric. Once the wash cycle has finished, air dry the board shorts in the shade.
