The first step for removing perspiration stains from Battenberg lace is to act quickly. If the garment or fabric has been sitting in sun or if it has dried, then stain is more likely to become permanent. With that in mind, it is best to treat the stain as soon as possible with one of the following methods.
One of the most effective methods for cleaning perspiration stains from Battenberg lace is to simply soak the item in a detergent and water mixture. To do this, simply fill a bucket or basin with lukewarm water and a small amount of gentle detergent (such as Woolite). Then carefully submerge the stained area and wait for around ten minutes before rinsing it with lukewarm water.
If the previous method doesn't work then you can try gently brushing stain away using a soft-bristled brush. To do this, simply dampen brush and then lightly scrub the stained area in a circular motion. This should help remove any stubborn bits of perspiration without causing any damage to the lace.
Once the stain has been removed, rinse the lace in cold water. After this, lay the item flat on a towel and then lay another dry towel over it to absorb any remaining moisture. Once lace is dry, it should be good as new!
