Before you start your cleaning process, it’s important to remember that abaya material can vary. So when deciding cleaning agent to use, ensure you read the label of the abaya to confirm which products are safe to use on its fabric. As a general rule, avoid using harsh cleaning agents for delicate fabrics like chiffon.
If your abaya is white in colour, use a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda to remove sweat stains. Take equal parts of both ingredients and mix them together to form a paste-like consistency. Rub this paste on to the sweat stains and wait for a few minutes before rinsing it off. If needed, scrub with a soft brush to help lift the stain.
For dark-coloured abayas, a mixture of vinegar and water is the best option. Mix one portion of white vinegar with two portions of water and stir. Use a soft cloth to pour this mixture onto the stain and blot the affected area. This will help remove the sweat stain. If stain still remains, repeat process until you get the desired result.
Regularly brushing the fabric of your abaya will help reduce appearance of sweat stains. Additionally, use a lint roller to pick up any loose dirt particles from the abaya. This will help keep fabric in good condition and prevent unsightly stains. If possible, hang your abaya in the sunlight every once in a while for some natural whitening. You can also add a few drops of lavender oil or tea tree oil to a spray bottle and lightly mist it on your abaya for extra freshness.
