Voile is a lightweight, sheer fabric that's perfect for softening up look of any room. Its delicate nature makes it susceptible to staining, however, and pencil marks can be particularly difficult to remove. This is because the lead in pencils is often oil- or wax-based, making it harder to lift out of the fabric. Fortunately, there are a few tried-and-true methods that should help you get rid of those stubborn pencil marks:

Method 1: Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol is an effective way to lift pencil marks from voile fabric. First, mix some rubbing alcohol with a few drops of liquid dish soap in a spray bottle. Be sure to shake it up well. Then spray the mixture onto the stained area and let it sit for about fifteen minutes. Finally, use a clean cloth or sponge to gently scrub away the stain. Repeat as necessary until the marks have been lifted.

Method 2: White Vinegar & Laundry Detergent

Another way to remove pencil marks from voile is by using white vinegar and laundry detergent. Make a solution of one part white vinegar to two parts laundry detergent and apply it to the stained area. Let it sit for fifteen minutes, then use a soft brush to gently scrub the marks away. Rinse with cold water and repeat if necessary.

Method 3: Dry Cleaning Fluid

For particularly stubborn pencil marks, you may need to use a dry cleaning fluid. Purchase a dry cleaning fluid specifically formulated for voile fabrics and follow the instructions on the package. Do a spot test on an inconspicuous area of the voile first to make sure the fluid won't damage the fabric. If it doesn't cause any discoloration, you can proceed to treat the pencil marks using a Q-tip or cotton swab. Make sure to rinse the voile well after using dry cleaning fluid and lay it flat to air dry.

With the right materials and techniques, it's easy to get pencil marks out of voile curtains. Now that you know how to do it, you'll be able to keep your voile curtains looking their best for years to come!
