Start by using a sponge and warm soapy water to gently scrub the stained area of your umbrella. Make sure to move the sponge in a circular motion to loosen the mark and prevent any damage to the material. If the stain persists, repeat this step until it disappears.
Once you have finished scrubbing the umbrella, soak a cotton ball or soft cloth in rubbing alcohol and dab the stained area. Be sure to use gentle pressure to help break up the stubborn pencil marks. Again, if necessary, repeat this step until the pencil stain is gone.
If the pencil stain still remains, create a paste from equal parts vinegar and baking soda and apply it to the stain. Again, use a sponge to work in circles, ensuring all the vinegar and baking soda paste is worked into the material. Leave this mixture on the umbrella for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
Another way to remove pencil stains from umbrellas is to use a magic eraser. Gently rub stained area with the eraser until mark is gone. Again, if necessary, repeat this step until the pencil stain is gone.
To finish off, mix a small amount of laundry detergent with warm water and use a soft cloth to gently wipe down stained area. Rinse off the detergent with warm water and leave the umbrella to dry naturally.
Accidentally leaving your umbrella open while carrying a pencil can sometimes leave behind an unsightly stain. But fear not, with these five simple steps you'll soon have your umbrella looking as good as new.
