Removing Pencil Marks from T-Shirts Using Traditional Methods

  • Using a damp cloth, gently rub the stained area with a mild detergent. For tougher stains, a dab of shampoo or liquid dishwashing soap will work just as well.
  • Once the area has been soaped up, use a clean moist cloth to rinse away any soap residue.
  • For tougher stains, a mild abrasive like baking powder may help remove the pencil marks. Simply sprinkle the baking powder on stained area, then using a soft scrub brush or cloth, gently rub in a circular motion.
  • Rinse away any residue and let shirt air dry.

Removing Pencil Marks from T-Shirts Using Non-Traditional Methods

  • Rubbing alcohol is also a great way to remove pencil marks from fabric. Using a cloth, dampen the area with rubbing alcohol then gently rub it in a circular motion.
  • For extra foaming action, try mixing some beer and laundry detergent together in a small bowl. Soak a cloth in the mixture and gently rub it over the pencil marks.
  • If all else fails, a few drops of white vinegar on the stained area will do the trick. Using a clean cloth, apply vinegar directly onto the stained area and gently rub until the mark disappears.
  • Rinse the area with cold water or wipe with a damp cloth.

Additional Tips

  • Always test a product on an inconspicuous part of garment first to make sure it doesn’t damage the fabric.
  • To prevent the stain from setting further into the fabric, act quickly and apply the cleaning agent immediately.
  • If using a product like rubbing alcohol, make sure to use it in a well-ventilated area, as the fumes can be hazardous.
  • Be sure to follow up any cleaning solution with a rinse of cold water for best results.
