Before you start cleaning the pencil stains from your thong, you should pre-treat the area. Start by dabbing spot with a bit of detergent and warm water. Gently massage the detergent into the fabric and let it sit for a few minutes.
After the pre-treatment, you can apply a stain remover. A few popular choices are OxiClean, Shout, and Zout. Spray or pour a small amount of stain remover directly onto the pencil stain, and then massage it in with your hands. Keep it on for a few more minutes to let the remover work its magic.
Once you've applied the stain remover, it's time to rinse the thong with cold water. This will help remove any excess residue or suds left behind from the cleaning solution. Make sure to use lukewarm water to avoid shrinking the fabric.
Soak the thong in a sink or bowl filled with cold water and a small amount of laundry detergent. Let it soak for approximately 30 minutes to an hour to help loosen any remaining stains that the stain remover may have missed.
Once the thong has finished soaking, you can move onto the washing machine. Put thong in a mesh bag to contain any rogue pieces of fabric and avoid damaging the drum. Set the temperature to cold and wash with a gentle cycle.
The last step is to hang the thong up to dry. Do not put it in the dryer as this could damage the fabric or set the pencil stain. Allow the thong to air dry completely before wearing or storing it.
