- Fabric brush
- Soft cloth
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Baking soda
Steps
- Start by using a fabric brush to gently brush the pencil marks on the silk satin.
- Create a water and mild detergent solution, then add a few drops of white vinegar to mix.
- Soak a soft cloth in the solution and use it to carefully dab stained area.
- If the stain persists, apply a very small amount of hydrogen peroxide to affected area and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes have elapsed, brush the mixture away with a fabric brush.
- For extra-stubborn stains, mix together equal parts baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Gently apply this paste to the stain and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
- Once the paste has done its work, use a damp cloth to wipe away any residue.
Additional Tips
- Always test the cleaning products on an inconspicuous corner of the fabric before applying it to the stained area.
- Be sure to air dry fabric afterwards to prevent any discolouration.
- Avoid using bleach or other harsh chemicals to clean pencil stains, as these can damage the fabric.
