When attempting to clean pencil marks from silk dupioni fabric, start by gently brushing away as much graphite as you can with a soft-bristled clothing brush. You may also be able to rub the graphite away with a toothbrush or a pencil eraser.

Once you have removed as much graphite as you possibly can, it’s time to move on to using stain removers. It’s best to start with a mild solution before trying a stronger one. Try applying a dab of liquid laundry detergent to the area and let it soak in for 30 minutes or so. Use a sponge to gently rub the stain and rinse it off with cold water. If it isn’t fully gone, you can use a small amount of rubbing alcohol as your next step in removal.

If you’re still having difficulty getting rid of the stain, it might require more extreme steps. Try vodka or an ammonia solution. Make sure to dilute the vodka or ammonia with a ratio of 1:3, use the same technique to apply small amounts of the solution to area and then rinse off with cold water. However, make sure to never pour vodka or ammonia directly onto the stained area, as this could cause even more damage.

Finally, if using any of these solutions or tips still hasn’t made a difference, you can go to a dry cleaner and they can try to help. Keep in mind, though, thatpencil marks on silk are difficult to get out and the results may be less than perfect.
