Before starting the cleaning process, you need to prepare your silk. The first thing you should do is brush away any loose pencil shavings that are still clinging to the fabric. After that, double check the care label on your garment, as some fabrics may require a different cleaning method. If you do not find any additional instructions, you can move on to the next step.
Now it’s time to treat stain. Start by mixing equal parts white vinegar and cool water in a small bowl. Dip a clean cloth in the solution, then gently dab the stained area with it until it is saturated. Do not rub or scrub the fabric, as this could damage the delicate fabric. Let the solution sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
To finish off the cleaning process, you should wash the silk fabric in cold water using a mild detergent. Make sure not to use any bleach or harsh chemicals, as these could damage the fabric further. It’s best to air dry the garment, but if necessary you can tumble dry on a low heat setting. Once the fabric is completely dry, the stain should be completely gone.
