Pencil stains can be quite stubborn, so it's important to act quickly when your scrubs become stained. If the stain is still fresh, spot treat it with a damp cloth as soon as possible. For tougher stains, use a few drops of gentle, color-safe laundry detergent and lukewarm water. After treating the stain, scrub the material gently with a soft toothbrush or old toothbrush and rinse it off completely.
For dried-in stains, soak your scrubs in lukewarm water and color-safe detergent for a few hours before trying to scrub the stain out. You could also try using a mixture of baking soda and water if the stain is particularly stubborn.
No matter which cleaning method you choose, it's important to always use cold or lukewarm water. Hot water will likely set the stain into the fabric and make it harder to remove. Make sure to follow up by washing your scrubs in cold water, since hot water will cause the stain to set permanently.
When the stain is gone, hang your scrubs up to dry in a well-ventilated area. Make sure to avoid direct sunlight, which can fade fabric.
If you follow these tips, your medical scrubs should stay stain free and look good as new. Though pencil stains can be troublesome, with the right cleaning methods, they're easy to remove.
