#1 Start by Blotting With a Clean Towel

Start by gently blotting the stain with a clean dry white cloth or paper towel. Do not rub the stain, because this could cause it to spread and may even worsen it. Blot until the pencil mark has been fully absorbed.

#2 Pre-treat with Detergent

Choose a mild detergent and pre-treat the spot by applying a few drops to stain. Gently rub the detergent into the stain and let it sit for about 10 minutes. This will help break down the pencil remnants and make them easier to remove.

#3 Launder as Usual

After pre-treating with detergent, launder the clothing as you normally would. Use the warmest water recommended for your fabric, as this will help remove the pencil stain fully. If the stain is still present when the item comes out of the wash, repeat the process.

#4 Lighten the Stain with Vinegar

If the first three steps do not work, you can try using vinegar to lighten the stain. To do this, mix equal parts white vinegar and cold water, then apply the mixture directly to the stained area. Let it sit for two or three minutes, then blot the area with a clean cloth or paper towel. This should help to remove the remainder of the pencil stain.

#5 Seek Professional Assistance

If stain persists after trying the methods above, it's time to seek professional assistance. Find a local dry cleaner who specializes in stain removal, and ask for advice on how to eliminate the pencil stain from your Ralph Lauren clothing. They should be able to offer you the best solution for your particular garment.
