1. Prepare Your Supplies

Before you start, make sure you have following:

  • A soft bristled brush
  • A mild detergent or dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Lukewarm water

2. Pre-Treat the Stain

Once you have your supplies together, it’s time to prep the area. Start by lightly brushing area with the bristles of the brush. This will help to remove any large bits of graphite and dirt attached to the stain.

3.Create a Cleaning Solution

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of mild detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 4 cups of lukewarm water. Stir until detergent is completely dissolved in the mixture.

4. Soak the Stain

Dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and press it against the stained area for several minutes. The vinegar and detergent mixture should help to loosen the pigment from the fabric.

5. Rinse the Area

Finally, use a damp cloth to rinse off the remaining cleaning solution. Be sure to rinse the area well so that all of the detergent is gone.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you should be left with a clean and stain-free piece of pongee fabric.
