You can also use vinegar to remove small pencil marks without damaging special blends of fabrics. Simply dilute white vinegar with warm water (4 parts water to 1 part vinegar) and dab the affected area with a clean cloth. Once all of the stain is gone, rinse with cold water, squeezing out any remaining liquid.
For tough pencil stains, you can mix a tablespoon of baking soda, half a teaspoon of water, and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Rub the paste onto the stained area and leave to sit for a few minutes. Then, rinse off with cold water. Depending on the type of stain, you may need to repeat the process several times.
Pencil stains can be difficult to remove from ponchos, but with these simple methods you can eliminate most marks without damaging fabric. Just remember to test these methods on a hidden area of the fabric first, to check for colorfastness.
