Removing Pencil Stains from Pillows

  1. Gently scrape away as much of the stain as possible with a spoon or butter knife.
  2. Mix a solution of one part chlorine bleach to two parts water in a bowl.
  3. Dampen a cloth with the solution and dab it onto the stain on your pillow.
  4. Let the pillows sit for 10 minutes to allow the bleach to work its magic.
  5. Rinse the pillow with cold water. If possible, rinse it outside to avoid staining your sink.
  6. Repeat as necessary until the stain is gone.
  7. Let the pillow air dry completely before using.

Cleaning Tips

Before trying to remove the pencil mark from your pillow, make sure that it can actually be bleached. Check tag for instructions or contact the manufacturer before you begin.

Additionally, it's a good idea to give any pillow a thorough cleaning every six months or so, even if it has no notable stains. Over time, pillows collect dust, dirt and oils, so a regular deep cleaning can keep them looking and smelling their best.
