What You'll Need

  • Cotton swabs
  • White vinegar
  • Cold water
  • Dishwashing liquid

Step 1: Blot Stain

Use a cotton swab to blot the pencil mark and soak up as much of it as possible. Don't rub the stain, as this may cause it to spread.

Step 2: Mix Vinegar Solution

Mix together one part white vinegar with two parts cold water. Pour the solution onto the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water

After 10 minutes has elapsed, rinse the area with cold water to remove vinegar solution. Gently dab stain with a paper towel or cloth to remove any excess moisture.

Step 4: Apply Dishwashing Liquid

Apply a small amount of dishwashing liquid directly onto stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, gently scrub the area with a soft cloth.

Step 5: Rinse Again

Rinse the area with cold water again and allow fabric to air dry. If the pencil stain persists, repeat Steps 1 through 5 until the stain is removed.
