From kids' jackets to backpacks and furniture upholstery, stains on nylon can be tricky to manage. Pencil marks are particularly difficult to eliminate as they tend to "set" into fabric. Luckily, there are several simple methods for removing pencil staining from nylon that you can do at home. With just a few materials and a bit of elbow grease, you can get your nylon item looking good as new.

Gently blot the stained area with a damp cloth. Do not rub or scrub, as this could cause the stain to set further into the nylon. Instead, simply blot it from the outside inward, repeating until no more of the stain transfers onto cloth.
Pour either white vinegar or vodka onto the cloth and apply directly to the pencil mark. Again, be careful not to scrub or push the mark further into the material. Let the solution sit for 10-15 minutes to break down the stain.
Rinse the stain with cold water and dry off the area with a towel. If the stain has lightened but is not completely gone, continue to the next step.
Mix rubbing alcohol with a small amount of water and apply to stain with a cloth. Scrub until stain has vanished. Rinse the area with cold water and dry off with a towel.
If the stain persists even after the above steps, use a commercial stain remover such as OxyClean or Resolve. Follow the instructions on package and repeat steps 2-4 if necessary.
To help avoid future markings, use a fabric protector spray on the item. This will create an invisible coating that will repel dirt and grime and make it easier to remove any future stains.
