One of the easiest ways to remove pencil markings from macramé is with a little soap and water. Start by creating a soapy solution using your favorite liquid dish soap. Dip a clean sponge into this solution and then gently scrub away at the pencil marks on your macramé project. If pencil markings are still visible, try using a soft-bristle toothbrush for a more thorough cleaning. Once you're satisfied with the results, rinse your macramé project in cool water and let it air dry or pat it dry with a clean towel.
Another option for cleaning pencil markings off of macramé is to use rubbing alcohol. Start by soaking a cotton ball or cotton swab in rubbing alcohol. Then, carefully blot the pencil markings on your macramé project with soaked cotton. If stain persists, try applying a few drops of rubbing alcohol directly to the stain and scrubbing it with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Keep in mind that rubbing alcohol can discolor fabrics, so you may want to test this method on a small area of your macramé project first. Once you're satisfied with the results, rinse the project thoroughly with cool water and then let it air dry.
For tough pencil stains, you may need to resort to using bleach. Start by creating a bleach solution using 1 part bleach and 10 parts water. Then, dip a clean cloth or sponge into the solution and gently scrub away at the pencil markings on your macramé project. Once the pencil marks are gone, you'll need to thoroughly rinse the project with cool water to remove any traces of the bleach. Be sure to wear protective gloves when handling bleach and avoid getting it on any other fabrics.
