Method 1: Wipe the Stain with a Damp Cloth

The easiest way to get rid of pencil stains on leather is to simply wipe area with a damp cloth. This should be done as soon as the stain occurs in order to prevent pigment from being absorbed into the leather. Use a mild soap and warm water solution to dampen cloth and gently wipe the stained areas. If the mark persists, you can use a more abrasive cloth such as one made of microfiber.

Method 2: Use Rubbing Alcohol

Another effective method for removing pencil stains from leather is to use rubbing alcohol. Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and dab it onto the stain. Continue dabbing until the stain has been removed. Make sure to dab gently, as rubbing alcohol can damage the leather if it’s used too harshly. Allow the leather to dry completely before using it and store it in a cool, dry place.

Method 3: Use White Vinegar and Baking Soda

Using white vinegar and baking soda is a great way to remove pencil stains from leather. Mix together one part white vinegar and two parts baking soda to create a paste. Apply the paste to stained area and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Once the paste has had time to set, use a damp cloth to gently rub away the stain. Rinse the area with cold water and allow leather to dry.

Method 4: Use Nail Polish Remover

Nail polish remover is also an effective way to remove pencil stains from leather. Pour a small amount of nail polish remover onto a soft cloth and gently dab the stained area. Be sure to only use a small amount and be extremely gentle, as nail polish remover can damage leather if it’s used too vigorously. Allow the area to air dry before using it and store it in a cool, dry place.

Prevention Tips

In order to prevent pencil stains from occurring, it is important to keep pencils away from leather surfaces. Keep pencils in a desk drawer or another area where they won’t come into contact with leather. Additionally, it is important to clean up any eraser debris that may be left behind after erasing. This will ensure that no pigment is left behind to potentially stain the leather.
