Getting rid of pencil marks from furniture can be a tricky task. Depending on the material, cleaning supplies, time, and effort required can differ. Here we offer some tips on how to clean pencil stains from furniture so that your couches, chairs, desks, and other items remain in tip-top shape all year round.

What You Need:

  • Liquid detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Small bowl
  • Soft cloth
  • Sponge

Instructions:

  1. Start by mixing one teaspoon of liquid detergent and one cup of warm water in the small bowl. Use a soft cloth to dip mixture and apply it over the pencil stain on the furniture in a gentle manner.
  2. Let the solution stay on the furniture for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. After 15 minutes, use a damp sponge or cloth to rinse off the solution from the surface.
  4. Now prepare a paste of baking soda and white vinegar in equal proportions. Rub this paste gently over the pencil stain. Let it stay for a few minutes before washing it off with a damp cloth or sponge.
  5. Finally, scrub the entire area using the same cloth or sponge and some warm water.

Tips & Warnings:

  • Test the baking soda and vinegar paste on a hidden corner of the furniture before applying it to the stained surface.
  • Do not use abrasive scrubbers like steel wool or harsh chemicals like bleach on any furniture surface as it can damage it.
  • Always protect the surface of the furniture with polish or wax after cleaning for extra protection.
