Step 1: Apply a Pretreatment

The first step you should take when tackling pencil stains is to apply a pretreatment solution. This will help to loosen the stain, making it easier to remove later. We suggest using a detergent designed for delicate fabrics or an oxygenated bleach will help remove light colored pencil without fading the fabric. If you have a Pretreatment stain remover, follow the directions on the bottle before continuing.

Step 2: Wash the Dress

Once you’ve applied the pretreatment, add the dress to the washing machine with a mild detergent and lukewarm water. Be sure not to use hot water, as this can cause the stain to set even further. We also recommend turning the dress inside out to prevent any further staining.

Step 3: Dry Dress

After the washing cycle has finished, you should leave dress to air dry or opt for a gentle tumble dry cycle. You may need to repeat these steps several times if the stain is particularly stubborn.
