Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Before you start, make sure that you have all the necessary materials. You’ll need baking soda, white vinegar, an old toothbrush or soft bristled brush, a washcloth, and some mild detergent.

Step 2: Blend a Solution

Start by creating a cleaning solution of one part vinegar and two parts water. To intensify the cleaning power, add a tablespoon of baking soda and stir all the ingredients together until they are well blended.

Step 3: Spot Clean

Using the old toothbrush or soft bristled brush, gently scrub the stained area with your cleaning solution. Be sure not to apply too much pressure while scrubbing, as this can damage delicate fabric.

Step 4: Blot & Rinse

Once you’ve finished scrubbing, use a damp washcloth to blot up any excess cleaning liquid. Rinse cloth and continue to dab at the area until there are no more traces of the solution.

Step 5: Washing Machine Cycle

If the stain persists, turn your curtains inside out and place them in the washing machine. Run a delicate cycle with cold water, and use a mild detergent.

Step 6: Final Check

Once you’ve taken the curtains out of the washer, check them over for stains. If the pencil marks are still visible, repeat Step 3 and rewash.

Conclusion

With a little bit of elbow grease and right cleaning supplies, your drapery and curtains will be looking good as new. By following the six simple steps outlined above, you can easily restore your home decor back to its original beauty.
