Every once in a while, you might have a pencil mishap on your cotton lawn fabric. It’s unfortunate, but it doesn’t mean the fabric is doomed! Don’t throw that fabric away just yet; you can still save it with these simple steps. Follow these instructions to clean pencil stains from cotton lawn.
Before applying any liquid solutions, you should try to gently scrape off as much of the pencil as possible. Use a butter knife or other very blunt tool to carefully lift away the pencil without damaging the fabric. Once you’ve removed as much as you can, you’re ready to move on to the next step.
Mix a few tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar with a few cups of cold water. Dip a cloth or sponge into the solution and apply it to the pencil stain. Let the solution sit for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water. This should lighten the stain, but it may not get rid of it entirely.
If the lemon juice and vinegar didn’t work, try applying hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain. Put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, rinse with cold water.
Fill a bowl with cold water and add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Submerge stained area in the solution and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, rinse with cold water. If the stain still hasn’t been removed, repeat the steps until it is gone.
With these simple steps, you can successfully remove pencil stains from cotton lawn fabric. Just remember to act quickly, and don’t put the fabric in the dryer until all of the stains are completely gone.
