No one wants to go to a job interview or an important meeting with pencil stains on their collared shirt. Fortunately, it is easy enough to remove them and restore the shirt to its former glory.

Take a dry cotton swab and use it to blot the stain and absorb as much of the graphite as you can. Avoid rubbing the spot too much, as this could grind the pencil lead into the fabric.
Pour a bit of white vinegar onto a cotton swab and dab it on the stain. Let the vinegar sit on the stain for a few minutes before using a clean cloth to blot it away.
Create a soapy solution by mixing a few drops of dish soap with warm water. Soak the stained area for about five minutes. Use your finger to gently rub the soapy mixture out of the fabric. Rinse with cold water and then launder as usual.
